Vandervelde Primitive Cultures Collection

The Vandervelde Primitive Cultures Collection is housed at the Smith Wellness Center in Emmetsburg. This is a permanent exhibit of the world travels of photo journalist, Marjorie Mills Vandervelde. The exhibit includes her writings, photographs, over 250 primitive artifacts, correspondence and 30 precious letters, recordings of published materials, and books and observations of several cultures. The collection items span from the 1800’s to present day. The exhibit is available for public viewing during normal business hours at the Smith Wellness Center.
